BLOOMINGTON, IN- ARGFest-o-Con 2011, an annual conference, festival and meet-up designed to offer presentations and events related to (but not limited to) alternate reality gaming, transmedia and serious games will be held in Bloomington, Indiana from August 18-21, 2011. ARGFest-o-Con started as a small social gathering in 2003, and has grown to include panels and presentations from some of the brightest minds in transmedia entertainment and gaming. In past years, many people have attended to hear talks from visionaries like Jane McGonigal, Jordan Weisman, Elan Lee and Dave Szulborski, among many others.
This year’s line-up will be just as stellar as in previous years. Confirmed so far are Edward Castronova, a professor at the Indiana University where ARGFest-o-Con 2011 will be held, J.C. Hutchins, an award-winning fiction writer and novelist, Andrea Phillips, a freelance designer who has worked on award-winning transmedia projects, and David Varela, who contributed to the recent Secret Lewis campaign. We are expecting more presentations and speakers to be confirmed in weeks ahead. As well, we are happy to announce a partnership with the organizers of the Bloomington Independent Games Night (BIG Night) who will be hosting a special afternoon session on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at ARGFest-o-Con.
