INDIANAPOLIS (July 1, 2010) - The Indiana Economic Development Corporation has launched a redesigned Web site, improving the resource for new and expanding business, site consultants and the media.
The IEDC's new site features easier navigability, increased interactive and media features and direct links to the Indiana Sites and Buildings database and Indiana Supplier InSight. Designed by Indianapolis-based Vision3, the site functionality was developed using customer feedback and by prioritizing most-clicked-on content.
"Indiana's Web presence is effectively the front door for the global business community" said Mitch Roob, Secretary of Commerce and chief executive officer of the IEDC. "To make the best first impression possible, we've created a fresh look and new functionality."
Chief among features of the new site is front page access to the Indiana Sites and Buildings Database, which is powered by a geographic information system (GIS). The database, which was introduced in February, provides companies, site selection consultants and economic development professionals access to real estate and demographic information needed to make expansion or relocation decisions.
Other features include:
• A "Spotlight" section highlighting Indiana feature stories, editorials and blog posts
• A link to Indiana Supplier Insight, a web-based network that links Indiana firms with potential suppliers within the state
• Easier access to economic development and workforce data
• Small business and entrepreneurship resources
• Access to IEDC news releases and links to local and national media coverage of IEDC programs
"This new site should be easier to use and contain more applicable resources because it was designed with the customer in mind," said Kelly Nicholl, director of marketing for the IEDC. "We researched the most high-traffic areas of our old site and used that data to develop this new and more attractive tool."
