New to Town?

A performance in Bryan Park, great for picnicking and enjoying live music.

Breakfast: College Town Bagels— With so much to explore, try the Bloomington Bagel Company (113 N. Dunn) for a quick bagel sandwich and coffee, and get on your way to checking out all Bloomington has to offer!

Morning Activity: Downtown local shops—Head down Kirkwood, and stop in to any one of the great locally owned shops. From artistic light switch covers to classic posters, you will find plenty of unique items to furnish your new place. Next, if it’s a Saturday, stroll over to the Farmers’ Market, which is located next to City Hall (401 N. Morton). Try some kettle popped popcorn, buy some beautiful produce, check out the pepper lady’s wares, and listen to some local musicians.

Lunch: Bloomingfoods—The gourmet grocery store, Bloomingfoods (316 W. 6th), has a nice buffet and outdoor seating. Don’t forget to shop for some great local and organic items to stock your fridge while you’re there!

Afternoon Activity: Buy some things for the apartment—Since you’re new to town, you can probably use some new items. Try Goods for Cooks (115 N. College) or the Furniture Exchange (424 S. College).

Dinner: Make a nice dinner with your new kitchen items and purchases from Bloomingfoods. If it’s nice out, make a picnic in Bryan Park (1100 S. Woodlawn). If it’s not so nice out, rent a DVD from Plan Nine Film Emporium (213 S. Walnut).

Evening Activity: Bloomington Yoga—Stay in shape while meeting new people at Know Yoga Know Peace (234 N. Morton). Heal and strengthen your mind, body and spirit!
